A judge sentenced a woman to one year in jail and for her role in a dog attack on a 9-year-old boy in Little Norway Park last year.
Patrycja Siarek’s dog, Capo, an American Pocket Bully, attacked a young boy on March 23, 2024, in the park on Toronto’s waterfront. The boy was playing with his father when the dog charged, attacked and bit the child in the leg. Once freed, Siarek left the scene with the dog. Police released images of her as they attempted to find her.
Siarek pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing bodily harm and was sentenced to 12 months in jail, three years probation, a $250 fine and a 10 year prohibition on owning dogs.
The Crown had proposed a three-year custodial sentence, asking for significant jail time for Siarek.
