JACKSON — Consumers Energy is highlighting winter energy assistance and protections available to Michigan seniors as cold weather approaches, including shut-off safeguards and monthly bill credits for eligible households.
Per a Dec. 9 news release, the company said people 65 and older may qualify for a $4 monthly credit on electric bills at their primary residence.
The credit cannot be combined with the Low-Income Assistance Credit or Residential Income Assistance. Seniors experiencing issues receiving the credit are encouraged to confirm their birthdate by calling 800-477-5050.
“Consumers Energy is committed to serving all of our customers, including ensuring that our seniors are using all resources that keep them safe and comfortable in their homes,” said Brian Lewis, Consumers Energy
