Over 40 people have been struck down with food poisoning after having a Sunday lunch at a pub in a small UK village. Several customers reported suffering from sickness and diarrhoea following their lunch at the Corner House Inn in Llangynwyd, near Maesteg .

On Monday, December 1, the pub announced it would close for a deep clean after dozens of people became unwell after eating at the establishment a day earlier. Public Health Wales (PHW) have since confirmed 43 people had fallen ill. The illness was caused by a food poisoning organism known as clostridium perfringens, an investigation found.
