At 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from Wednesday 4 a.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties.
"Snow and a brief wintry mix expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze," explains the weather service. "A period of steady snow is expected to move in early Wednesday morning and continue much of the day. The snow could mix with a some rain or even freezing rain at times Wednesday afternoon. Lake effect and upslope snow showers along with patchy blowing snow then continues Wednesday evening into Wednesday night.
