At 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid for Wednesday between 4 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Broome County.
"Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. Localized snow accumulations up to 5 inches possible across the highest elevations above 1900 feet," explains the weather service. "A period of steady snow arrives early Wednesday morning and continues through the day. Brief periods of rain or freezing rain could mix in a times Wednesday afternoon or early evening, before changing back to all snow showers late Wednesday evening."
