When the All-SEC preseason teams were announced in July, Diego Pavia’s name was nowhere to be found — on the first, second or third teams.

Five months later, the Vanderbilt quarterback has been named first-team All-SEC , joining tight end Eli Stowers in voting by the conference’s head coaches.

Pavia’s selection came on the same day the Senior Bowl announced he had committed to play in the annual all-star game in Mobile, Alabama, on Jan. 31. The last time Vandy had Senior Bowl participants was 2020, according to the bowl’s website, when tight end Jared Pinkney, wide receiver Kalija Lipscomb and running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn took part in the contest.

Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell II was also named first-team All-SEC.
