Joe Willis isn’t going anywhere after all.
Nashville SC re-signed its veteran goalie to a one-year contract Tuesday, just a few weeks after choosing not to renew the club option on his contract for 2026.
“Joe has played a huge role in our club’s success, and we are excited to have him return to our group in 2026,” Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs said in a release.
Financial terms were not released, but the new arrangement likely means Willis will be making less than the $658,333 he earned in 2025 while playing for the Boys in Gold.
It’s also very possible Willis will be NSC’s back-up netminder during the 2026 season, allowing Brian Schwake — last year’s back-up — to take over the starter’s role.
