HCA Healthcare Inc. has named Virginia Tenpenny vice president of community engagement, according to a release.
The appointment is effective Jan. 12, 2026.
Tenpenny succeeds Joanne Pulles, who is retiring after 26 years with HCA Healthcare, and will lead HCA Healthcare’s community engagement strategy.
She will oversee a team that manages social and charitable investments, colleague giving and volunteering, community outreach and partnerships.
Tenpenny has more than 20 years of experience in corporate community relations. Most recently, she served as chief social impact officer at NationSwell.
Prior to that, she spent 16 years at Starbucks Coffee Company in executive roles across public affairs and served as the company’s first chief global social impact officer.
