BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A man convicted of murder after streaming a brutal killing live on social media received his sentence.

Earl Lee Johnson Jr. has been sentenced to 999 years without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

The deadly attack happened in April of 2022. The victim, Janice David, 34, was found dead in the parking lot of a Baton Rouge business, authorities said.

Police said that Johnson admitted to the killing. They added that he choked David, beat her, and stabbed her.

According to officials, the 2022 killing was not Johnson’s first run-in with the law. He had previously been locked up in 2005 on several armed robbery charges. He pleaded guilty to the charges in 2007 and was sentenced to 15 years behind bars with credit for time served.
