WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - ATV and snowmobile operators will not have to pay an extra fee to use Winnebago County boat launches, at least for now.
On Tuesday, the Winnebago County Parks Commission discussed putting a paywall for those who use boat launches in the winter season.
The committee’s main goal is to generate more revenue from ATVs and snowmobile riders without increasing fees for boaters.
However, when the committee accounted for plowing, rangers, portable toilets, and salt costs, they discovered it would actually cost them several thousand dollars in total.
The committee also did not specify whether those fees would affect people who ice fish.
To break even, costs would have to be increased for all boat launch users.
