The sister-in-law of 2012 Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney died by suicide in a Southern California city this year, the medical examiner’s office said Tuesday.

Carrie Elizabeth Romney, 64, of Valencia, was found dead after a five-story fall from a parking structure at around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the northern Los Angeles County suburb of Santa Clarita, officials said at the time.

The manner of death was ruled suicide, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department said in a statement Tuesday.

Carrie Romney and George Scott Romney, Mitt Romney’s brother, were married in November 2016. The couple had been separated since May 25, according to a Los Angeles County divorce petition George Scott Romney filed June 10.
