FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Democrat Rachna Sizemore Heizer is projected as the winner in the race to replace Congressman James Walkinshaw, who was elected to Congress in September’s special election.
With 29 of 29 districts reporting, Sizemore Heizer had 67 percent of the votes.
Sizemore Heizer was running against Republican Ken Balbuena and independent Carey Chet Campbell.
Sizemore Heizer represents the Braddock District on the Fairfax County School Board. She is also an attorney.
Walkinshaw was elected after veteran Congressman Gerry Connolly died in May.
On Monday, Walkinshaw announced on social media that he was endorsing Sizemore Heizer.
