WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department arrested a man who attempted to rob a bank located in the Fair Lakes Shopping Center on Monday.
On Monday, police were called to the 12900 block of Fair Lakes Shopping Center at 10 a.m. for reports of a bank robbery. Witnesses told police a man walked inside the bank, displayed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed.
The teller asked the man to leave, and he did, on foot.
When officers arrived at the bank, the robber, identified as Nicholas Rodriguez, approached officers and told them he was the robber. Rodriguez was taken into custody and was held on a $1,000 bond.
Rodriguez's motive behind attempting to rob the bank is unknown at this time.
