BEAUFORT, N.C. (WITN) - An eastern Carolina attorney and small-business owner announced her filing for the 1st District today.

GOP Ashley-Nicole Russell says she plans to enter the race on three principles that have shaped her life and career: faith, family, and freedom.

“For me, this is not about politics as usual; it’s about the people,” Russell said. “I have served families and built businesses here. I know the challenges our farmers, fishermen, small-business owners, and veterans face every single day.”

According to a news release, Russell founded the first collaborative family law firm in ENC and co-founded Michael & Russell, PLLC in Wilmington, which supports adoption and family law across the coast.
