Shashi Tharoor has refused to accept the Veer Savarkar International Impact Award, stating he was not informed about the award's nature or the organizing body. A senior Congress colleague had also urged him not to accept any honor named after Savarkar. The award organizers claim Tharoor was informed and invited.
