Hyderabad: Taj Banjara, the iconic hotel on the banks of Banjara Lake in Hyderabad has been acquired by Auro Realty Group for Rs 315 crore, reports said.

The hotel has been closed and its activities have been suspended since 2023, after the lease given to the Taj Group expired.

The hotel operated on 3.5 acres of leased land under Taj GVK Hotels and the landlord has reportedly sold the land to the real estate company, for a luxury high-rise building project.

The prime property and a landmark in Hyderabad, was leased by Taj GVK hotels was managed as Taj Gateway initially and was later renamed as Taj Banjara. The transaction reportedly took place in October 2025 and the company paid a stamp duty of Rs 17.5 crore.

Auro Realty is a part of Auronbindo Group, which also owns Aurobindo Pharma.
