ALLEN – Second-year McKinney head boys basketball coach Jake Hodges said earlier in the season that it almost feels like he’s still in Year One with the Lions after graduating so many key pieces from last season’s bi-district playoff qualifier.
But Hodges knows his group has a high ceiling, backed up by a number of strong results throughout the preseason. On Tuesday, McKinney took things one step further by opening its 6-6A schedule with an 83-81 road win over reigning district champion Allen, who’s ranked No. 4 in Class 6A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
