Syracuse, N.Y. ― As a two-family home in Syracuse was engulfed in flames , the man accused of setting the fire was across the street smoking a cigarette, watching it burn, according to prosecutors.
A woman sleeping in the upstairs apartment died in the fire.
Anthony Green, 60, is accused of first-degree murder for setting the fire at 2017 South Ave. that killed Shaquoiya T. Allison , 34, on June 20, 2024.
New details of the allegations were revealed Tuesday as Green’s trial began.
Prosecutor Oksana Bugayov opened the trial by showing the jury a video of the fire.
The video, filmed from a private camera across the street, shows a faint glow starting in the first-floor porch and quickly spreading.
