Grammy-nominated baritone Jubilant Sykes died Monday in what authorities are investigating as a homicide at his Santa Monica home, with his son arrested in connection with the 71-year-old musician’s death.
According to USA Today , the Santa Monica Police responded to a call about an assault in progress on Dec. 8 and found Sykes suffering from critical injuries consistent with a stabbing, according to a police press release. The Santa Monica Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers arrested Micah Sykes, 31, at the home without incident. He was booked around 7 a.m. on Dec. 9 on suspicion of homicide and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11. His bail has been set at $2 million.
