A recycling centre in a Northumberland town has been closed following Storm Bram. A yellow weather warning for wind was put in place across the county on Tuesday by the Met Office.

Residents living in the area were told to expect strong winds until 6am on Wednesday morning. The Household Waste Recycling Centre based in North Seaton, Ashington , has now been closed due to high winds.

Northumberland County Council has urged residents to use an alternative site. The local authority said: "If the HWRCs are closed and you have a permit, please note they can be used at your appointment time at an alternative HWRC that is still open.
