Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union of Canada (ATU) have expressed a willingness to go on strike over Regina city council’s new proposed budget.
The union says the budget includes reducing public transit service hours, ending bus service at 10:30 p.m. CST instead of midnight.
Sukwinder Gainda, president of ATU Canada Local 588, said the city is not working in good faith and is also looking to cut services for multiple routes.
“It should not even be coming up to debate on this kind of service,” Gainda said.
"This is a very vital, important service for our community … Seniors use that route to go for their doctor's appointment, for their groceries and they just rely on that public transit. And then school students — they are trying to cut the school specials too. How will kids go to
