CMAC champion Pewamo-Westphalia and Leslie led the individuals from Greater Lansing who were selected to the Michigan Sportswriters Division 7-8 all-state football team.
P-W, which also won district and regional titles, had a pair of players honored. Linebacker Luke Paxton led the selections and was named first team all-state, while quarterback Ty Thelen earned second team honors. Paxton had 95 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery while being a key presence on defense for the Pirates, who went 12-1.
Thelen was 75-of-147 passing for 1,337 yards and 33 touchdowns and had 157 carries for 1,324 yards and 23 touchdowns en route to being the CMAC offensive MVP for P-W.
