'K strain' flu has been sweeping Britain over the last few weeks, with thousands feeling the impact of the new illness strain.
Brits have been warned of the “subclade K” variant which has undergone a "genetic drift" over the summer to become the influenza A H3N2 virus.
This is leading to a hike in cases recorded in the UK, with around 90 per cent of those reported due to the new strain.
Our bodies have not yet built a barrier up to this strain, due to the mutation, causing it to rapidly spread and often appear in a more severe format.
