MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) -- Continental's Mount Vernon plant has become the company's first tire facility in the United States to achieve an International Sustainability and Carbon Certification PLUS (ISCC PLUS) certification.

This certification marks a significant milestone for the plant, which is the largest in the U.S. with approximately 3,900 employees. "We're once again proving that transparent, traceable supply chains for renewable and recycled raw materials work at scale," said Continental in an online post.

With this achievement, Continental said they now have ISCC PLUS certified plants in every region where it produces tires, including Europe, Asia-Pacific, and America. The company aims to have at least 40 percent of its tires made from recycled and renewable materials by 2030.
