The Alabama High School Athletic Association announced today that it is postponing its reclassification for fall sports for more than a month.

The AHSAA was originally scheduled to announce the new fall classifications next Monday. Instead, the AHSAA is postponing the announcement until Jan. 23, 2026, according to executive director Heath Harmon.

In a brief release, Harmon said the postponement was due to “current mediation.”

On Nov. 21, Montgomery County judge J.R. Gaines ordered lawyers for the AHSAA and Gov. Kay Ivey to mediate the ongoing dispute over athletic ability for Alabama’s Choose Act students.
