Mark Mitchell’s attempt to drive at the rim was stuffed. Three Kansas uniforms had formed a blue-and-white barrier to entry. So, Mitchell turned back toward the top of the key, in a tied ball game with 3:30 left in the first half and fed it back to Anthony Robinson II.

Mitchell, post-pass, was doubled. One of those defenders had sagged off Robinson to make sure the pass wasn’t returning to the star forward. Two KU defenders were keeping tabs on Jacob Crews and Luke Northweather on the perimeter on the weakside. The last Jayhawk defender was tracking T.O. Barrett at the strongside corner.

There was space in front of Robinson. He scanned his options. There was a path, if he wanted it, to the rim.
