The average Town of Essex homeowner will see municipal taxes increase 2.66 per cent, or about $95, in the new year.

Essex council adopted its 2026 budget Monday, approving a $79.9-million spending plan that keeps core services running while investing in infrastructure and long-term growth, according to officials.

The local tax increase works out to roughly $7.71 extra per month for the average household across all four wards in the Town of Essex.

“This budget reflects our commitment to responsible financial management while continuing to invest in the priorities that matter most to our residents,” Mayor Sherry Bondy said in a statement.

“It builds on our progress over the past year by maintaining core services, strengthening community assets, and planning for long-term sustainability.”
