Golden Globe nominee Kate Hudson will receive the Icon Award, Actress for her performance in "Song Sung Blue" at the Palm Springs International Film Awards.
The awards will take place on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running Jan. 2-12.
Based on a true story and directed by Craig Brewer, "Song Sung Blue" follows Mike (Hugh Jackman) and Claire (Hudson) as they form a Neil Diamond tribute duo called Lightning and Thunder. They begin their journey performing in a garage, then move on to dive bars, eventually achieving unexpected stardom in Milwaukee, driven by the sing-along power of "Sweet Caroline." After a devastating loss, their shared devotion to music — and to one another — becomes the film’s emotional anchor.
