PHOENIX, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) continues to recommend that all newborns receive a hepatitis B vaccine birth dose within 24 hours of delivery. This recommendation aligns with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

On Dec. 5, 2025, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to limit the hepatitis B birth dose to clinical decision-making. They also recommended antibody blood tests to determine if additional doses are necessary beyond the first vaccination.
