Lonnie Stephen Cathey, 74 of Abilene, passed away December 5, 2025 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

He was born June 9, 1951 in McAlester, Oklahoma the son of Bernie and Loraine (Butler) Cathey.

In 1975 Steve joined the United States Army, serving 4 years. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jean on November 3, 1978 in Abilene.

Steve worked for the Abilene Police Department for 29 years, earning the rank of Captain, where he was know by many as Captain Cathey. He was currently working as a guard at the Eisenhower Museum.

Steve is survived by his wife, Pat of the home. Three sons: Benjamin Michael Cathey and wife Fuyan; Lonnie Stephen JR Cathey and wife Tish and Robert Joseph (Cox) Cathey. Grandchildren: Arden, Arissa, Michael Zane, Daniel, Matthew, Lauren and husban
