BELTON, Texas — Lake Belton High School senior Taylor Rogers was inspired to take action after seeing community work online.
Rogers, a lifelong Belton ISD student, raised $1,627 in door-to-door donations to help pay off student lunch debt. His efforts erased 54% of outstanding balances, according to Belton ISD.
He took action to meet a community service requirement for a foreign exchange scholarship program after seeing a video of similar work in another community.
“I thought it was a great cause and something people would want to rally behind,” Rogers told Belton ISD officials. “There was anxiety at first knocking on strangers’ doors, but once I got past the first house, it felt easier.
