CHANDLER (AZFamily) — A Basha High School football coach lost his home to a fire Sunday, a day after the team won its second consecutive Open Championship.

Associate head coach Tim Kelly’s house burned to the ground after a fire that started in the garage shortly after midnight Sunday. Kelly, his father, his brother and two dogs escaped safely.

Kelly’s father was staying at the home after undergoing double-bypass surgery, and his brother was there because he was ill; Kelly was caring for him.

“It started in the garage and then the blaze quickly took over the house,” Kelly said.

The fire occurred the day after Basha defeated its opponent Saturday to claim the Open Championship for the second year in a row.
