LAS CRUCES, NM (AZFamily) — An Arizona man accused of ramming a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle in southeastern New Mexico agreed Monday to a plea deal in federal court.
Christopher Jack Leach, 33, pleaded guilty to assault upon a federal officer with physical contact in exchange for the count of transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines being dropped, according to online court records.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Leach learned on March 31 that he had an Arizona warrant for his arrest and tried to flee to Florida by tricking a friend into lending him a car.
