On Thursday at 1:30 a.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Friday at 7 a.m. for Monroe County.
The weather service says to expect, "Snow accumulations 2 to 5 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow."
"Travel will be difficult at times with snow covered roads and reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes," states the weather service. "Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities."
