Schools in Kanawha Valley delay classes as overnight cold may leave roads icy

Schools in the Kanawha Metro area have again delayed classes Thursday because of Wednesday night rain followed by overnight freezing temperatures.

As a result, the National Weather Service in Charleston is warning drivers to be on the lookout for icy road conditions Thursday morning until temperatures rise and water on roadways melt.

School closings

These area school districts have changed their learning plans for Thursday.

Clay County : Two-hour delay

Fayette County : Two-hour delay

Kanawha County : Two-hour delay

Lincoln County : Three-hour delay. Staff reports two hours late except for maintenance, mechanics and custodians, who report one hour late.
