CARLISLE — Cumberland County commissioners have made no secret about their belief that a new courthouse is in the county’s near-term future.
But while site selection and other planning grinds along on that long-term goal, the county’s facilities task force also says there are some pressing space issues that need attention now.
On Wednesday, Facilities Director Brent Durham presented commissioners with a set of office shifts he said will get more space to the departments that have the most pressing needs, while downsizing others that — because of digitization of records, the advent of online services and other changes — can get by with less.
The plans were broadly endorsed by the commissioners Wednesday, though no formal board action was taken.
