UK holidaymakers have been warned to brace themselves for queues of up to four hours at European airports, particularly during the Christmas period, following the implementation of the new Entry-Exit system (EES) on October 12. The EES, which swaps manual passport stamping for biometric checks, requires fingerprinting and facial scans for every non-EU traveller.

This extra step, combined with the high influx of passengers travelling during the festive season, can lead to significant delays when multiple flights land at the same time.
