GOODYEAR, AZ (AZFamily) — One person is dead after a house fire broke out in the West Valley overnight.
Just after midnight on Thursday, Goodyear firefighters responded to reports of a fire in the backyard of a home near Yuma Road and 177th Avenue . It was reported that there was “significant storage” in the yard, and the blaze was starting to spread to the house.
When crews arrived, the fire had spread to the home with flames coming from the back of the roof, Goodyear Fire said. The home had partially collapsed, so firefighters went defensive on the fire.
Firefighters knocked down the flames and were able to enter the home, where they found the homeowner dead. The person has not yet been publicly identified.
