PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Thousands of people pushed themselves to the limit to finish the first-ever Phoenix Marathon on Saturday.
Over 7,200 runners from all over the country participated in the inaugural event, including some from 12 different countries! Runners had the chance to participate in the marathon (26.2 miles), the half-marathon (13.1 miles) and the 10K (6.2 miles). Routes spanned throughout the greater Phoenix area, including the Biltmore district and Camelback Road, and ended at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, home of Arizona State Sun Devil baseball.
Jake Heslington captured the first-place title for the men’s full marathon, finishing with a blazing time of 2:19:29, averaging 5:19 a mile. The men’s top three marathon finishers are below:
