SUMMERVILLE — The Dorchester District Two School Board voted unanimously Dec. 8 to redistrict more than 500 students currently attending James H. Spann Elementary School.
Dating to the 1960s, Spann Elementary is one of the area’s oldest school buildings. DD2 will repurpose the aging campus to house educational programming and several administrative departments in the 2026-2027 school year.
District officials emphasized that the redistricting and repurposing of the school will not result in job losses. Teachers and staff will be able to transfer to a nearby school of their choice.
