OMAHA, Neb. —
Chefs with Conagra Brands cooked and served holiday meals Wednesday at three Omaha-area shelters. It's part of the annual "Holiday Shelter Meals" initiative.
Volunteers prepared meals at New Visions Omaha Veterans' Campus, its Council Bluffs location and the Siena Francis House.
"This is one of the most meaningful days of the year for our team," said New Visions CEO Brandy Waller. “Many of the veterans we serve are rebuilding their lives. A meal like this is more than food — it’s dignity, community and hope.”
The meals come during the annual Shine the Light on Hunger campaign, which supports Food Bank for the Heartland. Conagra hopes to raise the equivalent of 6 million meals this year. Nonperishable food can be dropped off in the orange barrels around town. Donations can
