SAN ANTONIO — Starting Thursday, there's a new update to a much-needed community resource.

The Greenies Urban Farm will hold a ribbon cutting for the newest facility on San Antonio’s east side.

The farm provides up to 25,000 pounds a year in fresh fruits and vegetables to its surrounding community.

On campus, the building will not just be event space but also serve as learning hub and community destination.

The new facility will host Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service staff. It’ll allow them to use the building for new gardens, outdoor kitchens, outdoor classrooms and greenhouses.

The space will also host future farmers’ markets.

This comes five years after the greenies urban farm opened on the east side.
