INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is asking for the public's help in the search for a driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash on Indianapolis' west side Thursday morning.

The crash was reported around 8:15 a.m. Dec. 11 on North Lynhurst Drive, near West Vermont Street .

IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson said preliminary information leads investigators to believe a Mustang involved in some sort of street racing with another car crashed into an uninvolved pickup truck near the intersection.

The driver of the pickup driver, believed to be a male, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash.

The driver of the Mustang fled the scene before officers arrived, Thompson said, and the possible other car involved in the suspected street racing also fled the scene.
