CAYCE, S.C. — Authorities have made an arrest in a 2021 homicide in Cayce, officials announced on Thursday.

Cayce Police announced the arrest of 37-year-old Alberto Osorio Mendoza for a shooting that happened on June 14, 2021, on Groover Circle in the Westwood Mobile Home Park. Officers were responding to the location to reports of a suspicious vehicle with someone slumped over the steering wheel. They found a male victim dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators determined that Mendoza had been with the victim earlier in the evening when a fight occurred, leaving the victim wounded and Mendoza fleeing. The investigation continued for years, with Medoza reportedly using multiple fake names to avoid arrest.
