SURPRISE, Ariz. — A man is hospitalized after a shooting in Surprise on Thursday, the city's police department said.

Around 6:30 a.m., officers were sent to the scene near 151st Avenue and Cactus Road for a 911 call about a man with a knife. This is when the reported shooting occurred.

Surprise Police said the man was shot during the incident and taken to the hospital. The man is in critical but stable condition, according to police.

The identity of the man has not been released.

No officers were injured during the incident, police said. Authorities added that there is no threat to the community.
