WASHINGTON -- Enhanced Affordable Care Act premium subsidies are set to expire at the end of the year, potentially doubling health insurance premiums for more than half a million Ohioans and leaving many without coverage entirely. The deadline has exposed deep divisions in Ohio’s congressional delegation over addressing the crisis.

All Ohio Democrats in Congress support extending the subsidies permanently. U.S. Rep. Shontel Brown, a Warrensville Heights Democrat, says the expiring subsidies helped lower costs and the uninsured rate, and are supported by Ohioans across the political spectrum.
