A Chattanooga native and Hixson High alumni has his hands full at Tennessee Tech.

Not only is Jace Simmons in the school's marching band, he's also in the the spirit squad, according to a recent blog post from the university.

The 2025-2026 season marks the largest membership in the history of both the Golden Eagle Marching Band and Spirit Squad, the school says.

If you're wondering how he got himself into this unusual dual role - it might've been destiny. Simmons says he began cheering in fifth grade and joined band the following year. By high school, he learned to balance both.
