Fero Vineyards & Winery is one of a couple of high-quality off-the-radar wineries located close to each other near Lewisburg, in Pennsylvania’s Union County.

Union Cellars is another.

Dr. Chuck Zaleski found his “second career” while at Bucknell University when his studies took him overseas to Vienna and into the proximity of several historic vineyards.

Zaleski graduated, and while practicing medicine back in the states, he met his future wife, Daneen, who is an avid wine lover. The couple enjoyed trips to the Finger Lakes region of New York and found themselves discussing the possibility of starting a vineyard of their own.

In 2004, that became a reality when the couple had an opportunity to convert part of an 1812 family farm.
