A California man has been arrested by Maryland authorities for allegedly raping a woman twice in Gaithersburg, Maryland, mere moments after she had been in a car crash.

A statement from police alleges that the rape happened on the evening of December 18, 2024 — but that Mauricio Martinez-Garcia, was only arrested on December 5. Prosecutors announced the charges against the 27-year-old man on Wednesday, December 10.

The victim filed a complaint with police after the alleged rape, telling cops she did not know the man who attacked, according to a statement from police.
