MONROE, Ga. — An SUV slammed into a Monroe home last week, leaving the house destroyed and the four people who live there displaced.
The crash happened Dec. 3 on Broad Street near Spring Street around 2 p.m., when the vehicle plowed through the side of the home and into the living room.
Driving by the house, the damage doesn't look that bad, but inside, the walls are separated, and the structure is unstable.
Brian Thrailkill, one of the renters, said the impact was unlike anything he's ever experienced.
"It's probably the scariest thing I've been through, and I got hit head-on at 65 miles an hour, and it was nowhere near as scary as this was," he said.
Brian and his fiancée, Teena Short, were in the living room when they saw the SUV veer off the road and head straight for their home.
